League Otters Achieve 1stplace at Salt Ayre

Saturday 20th April was our second Swim League meet of the season at Salt Ayre @ 5:15pm.

(Age groups in this competition are 12 and under, 14 and under and Opens.)

The girls had an absolutely fantastic day in the individual swims where they got 9 first placed places out of 12 races, which is amazing. Well done girls.

The boys also had a great day with 6 of 12 races seen them being placed in first position.

A special mention to Richard McKinney who competed in 5 races in total .Richard achieved a first place in his own individual races and played a key part in the 14 under and Cannon relay races. Each race that he took part in Richard and team came first!

Also many swimmers stepped up as we needed them to swim up and age group and they dug deep and performed well. ( Lucy Boswell and Kathryn McEvilly especially)

This is never easy as we had swimmers who should be swimming in 12 and under swimming in Opens; this meant they were swimming against adults in some cases.

This was planned to gain maximum points in the other age groups and worked out well as swimmers are limited to a maximum of 2 individual swims each only .

Overall the individual races had 15 individual wins!!!

Girls: Anna Hulme (13) winning her 50 meter Breast and Free , Kathryn McEvilly winning her 50 meter Back, Katelyn Quirk (11) winning her 50 meter Breast and 50 Fly, Eleanor Rea (10) winning her 50 meter Free and Back, Rachel Turton (17) winning her 50 meter Free and Fly.

= 9/12 first places.

Boys: Luke Chorley (14) winning his 50 meter Back, Kieran Hennessy (13) winning his 50 meter Fly,Richard McKinney (13) winning his 50 meter Breast and 50 Free and Eoin O'Connor (11) winning his 50 meters Free and 50 Fly.

= 6/12 first places.

There were also 7 personal best times achieved in the individual races!

The final victory of the day was in the cannon which the swimmers put in an overwhelming performance yet again and came first place.

Well done to everyone who took part and we look forward to the next gala in June at Leyland which is our home gala.

This is the second EVER victory since we have been part of the league, congratulations!
