Otters make it third success in a row!
22 Jun 2013
Saturday 22nd June was our third Swim
League meet of the season at Leyland @ 6:15pm which is our home gala.
(Age groups in this competition are 12 and under, 14
and under and Opens.)
The girls realized at the start the competition was
tough as they achieved a series of 2nd places. They achieved in the
individual swims six 2nd places, one 3rd place and a well-earned five 1st
places. Well done girls.
The boys also had a great day with a similar story of
eight 2nd places, one 3rd and three 1st places.
Again some swimmers
stepped up as we needed them to swim up and age group and they dug deep and
performed well. Chelsi Hanlon, Anna
Hulme and Kathryn McEvilly especially for the girlÆs .Luke Chorley, Kieran
Hennessy and Richard McKinney for the boyÆs.
This is
never easy as we had swimmers who should be swimming in younger age bands and
swimming in Opens; this meant they were swimming against adults in some cases!
This was
planned to gain maximum points in the other age groups and worked out well as
swimmers are limited to a maximum of 2 individual swims each only.
Overall the individual races had 8 individual wins!!!
Girls: Anna Hulme
(13) winning her 50 meter Freestyle , Katelyn Quirk (11) winning her 50 meter
Breast and 50 Fly and Rachel Turton (17) winning her 50 meter Freestyle and
Fly.
= 5/12 first places.
Boys Richard McKinney
(13) winning his 50 meter Breast 14 under and 50 Breast Open and Adam Jones(12)
winning his 50 Breast.
= 3/12 first
places.
So steady
work through the other races achieving so many 2nd places was vital
to gain the maximum points we could.
There were also 9 personal best times achieved in the
individual races!
Where we come into our own is our fantastic approach
to relays and we steadily took each one and achieved the most points we could. As
we have swum mostly the same swimmers through the season it has allowed us and
the swimmers to gain confidence in the races. As these relays at Swim League
are worth double points, every first place earns us 8 points, and second place
6 points. So this is where we really do ourselves proud.
Also today was Sean Gilbertsons first time swims for
Otters in North Lancs Swim League and he done a fantastic job in helping the
boys in the Opens as he is 15.Well done Sean, welcome onboard.
The final victory of the day was in the cannon which
the swimmers put in an overwhelming performance yet again and came first place.
Well done to everyone who took part and we look
forward to the final gala in at Leyland this Tuesday evening on the 25that 7:15pm.
This is our third EVER victory since we have been part
of the league, congratulations! LetÆs really get our heads down on Tuesday as
show everyone how itÆs done!
Unfortunately Blackpool C was unable to attend today
due to not having enough swimmers through injuries. So points were allocated
for 1st,2nd and 3rd place only.
